August 2010 Free Prize Drawing

August Free Catfishing Prize Drawing

I put together another prize pack of catfishing goodies for the month of August and am opening up things for the month for someone to win some more free catfishing goodies. I am going to try to keep this up every month (or even more frequently with some smaller prizes) if at all possible if I can keep them coming in.

To enter to win sign up for the newsletter (remember you have to opt in, so make sure you enter your email address correctly, and then once you do so check your email and verify your email address by clicking the link in the email you receive). Obviously if you are already signed up for the newsletter, you don’t need to do so again.

Once you have signed up for the newsletter, just comment on the blog post below and you will be entered to win. When you comment on the blog post put some thought into it. Give me some feedback on what you would like to see more information on, what articles or videos you like etc.

I often times just pick a winner at random and those with a comment like “enter my name to win” rarely get picked.

If you are already signed up for the newsletter, then just comment below. If for some reason you have issues signing up for the newsletter (you cannot see the signup form) than you most likely have an issue with your web browser (meaning it is too old and needs to be updated).  I highly suggest Google Chrome.

Included in this prize pack is:

One package of Magic Soap for getting the fish smell off your hands

A copy of Girls Gone Grabblin

secret channel catfish rig

Two packages of Redneck’s Catfish Bait Soap

A Daiichi Fishing Team baseball cap

North Texas Catfish Guide Service baseball cap

Bobber With A Brain Fishing Bobber

Again, just sign up for the newsletter and then comment on this post below in the comment section with your state that you live in and the biggest catfish you have ever caught (how many pounds) and we will enter you to win the prize pack. The winner will be announced on the last day of the month when we post our month in review.

Make sure you visit the tackle page for the list of products that I use in my catfish guide service.

Visit all of the pages on Learn To Catch Catfish for more great catfishing tips, tricks and information. Subscribe to our daily feed for daily updates by email as we add them and our newsletter for less frequent updates and to gain access to exclusive content and promotions as they become available. You can also keep up by following on Twitter and Facebook.

Chad: I did not join to win prizes, but rather to learn about the type of fish I love to catch – CATFISH. Your site is the most straight forward and possibly opinionated, but you tell people that they are entitled to their opinion. There are many ways to catch a catfish, and you are not afraid to say so.

I believe that your intentions are honest and true. You promote the sport and allow people towork the fine points out themselves. I am basically a shore fisherman, because the lake is in front of our house. The biggest catfish I have landed so far has been 5 pounds and 12 ounces. (I got a scale for Father’s day). I enjoy catching fish that resist being caught and catfish are all of that. My wife is a specialist, she only uses hotdog as bait, yet she catches catfish almost daily.

Thanks for helping us enjoy catfishing.

    Kindest regards,

    Bob

Great info and website Chad. Both facts as well as opinions are greatly appreciated. Some times it is hard to get an straight forward opinion out of someone without getting the “Texas Two-Step” instead. Keep both facts as well as opinions coming at us!

Hey Chad Great site. We have been catfishing for years and never got anything over 5lb’s. Have been surfing the site now for about 4 months and have tried many of your suggestions especially on bait and chum recipies, Locating the fish and fishing shallow. Glad to now say we have found several spots on Lake Wateree here in SC that we bait holes on a regular basis and your wheat chum works great. To date our best haul in was 160lbs between 7 fish. The advice you give here is priceless especially to those starting out or trying to improve their catfish skills. One thing some people told me about (they were from up north and I was going to ask your opinion on (or anyone elses for that matter) was using goldfish for bait?? ever tried that or heard of it??? Thanks for such a great site!!!

Phillip, it’s funny that you should mention goldfish, because my fishing buddy caught a 5lb. yellow on a live goldfish on Saturday night. I didn’t even know he had rigged a line up with one until we landed the fish. We only had 2 more bites the rest of the night, but were only out there for 3 hours and the bites were on fresh cut shad.

I know a lot of guys that use goldfish for bait for flatheads on setlines but I have never been a fan. I prefer natural bait.

Chad, this website has loads of information readily available. It’s nice to see a “one stop shop” type of site. My home lake is considered one fo the more difficult lakes to fish in our area, but it yields some beautiful blues and yellows. I’m looking forward to your upcoming article regarding drift fishing, as I think it will help me out on my home lake when the weather starts to get cooler. Thanks for putting up a great site!

I have been fishing a lake in south mississippi, having some trouble with the panfish eating my stink bait and liver and the turtles eating my live bait. I am just wondering what direction to go to avoid my bait being robbed?

Josh, give my catfish bait soap a try. Turtles leave it alone and I have never caught anything but catfish with it.
