I covered some tips for taking better fishing pictures a while back and this article is more about pictures without people or fish in them using iPhone or Android and a simple app call Pro HDR.
I’m a bit of a photography buff. I took tons of photography classes back in college, back when a camera still used film and a darkroom was involved. At one point I aspired to be a photography but things changed. That being said I still enjoy taking pictures and take a LOT of pictures when fishing, hunting and in everyday life of things that I find interesting. Having an iPhone on my hip at any give time certainly helps with that obsession.
I get emails from people from time to time that see pictures on Learn To Catch Catfish wanting to know what kind of camera I use, what types of lenses I use and a variety of other photography related questions and truth is, I use my iPhone for 99% of the pictures I take these days.
Taking fishing pictures for me isn’t always about the fish. I enjoy taking pictures while on the water or in the field and some of my favorites don’t always involve big fish or game but rather just “stuff” I see when out and about that I want to remember. This can be anything from clients in the boat with big smiles on their face to beautiful sunsets, sunrises or clouds and everything in between. Some of my favorite fishing and hunting pictures don’t have fish or people in them!
The pictures I get questioned on most often are simple pictures of scenery or outdoor landscapes take with my iPhone and a simple app called Pro HDR.
There is a native application in iPhone and Android devices that takes HDR pictures but it’s lousy and doesn’t take very good pictures at all. With the purchase of a simple app you can up your game and get some amazing outdoor photos that look like they were taken by a professional photography, and you really don’t need to know anything at all about taking great pictures.
Using Pro HDR For iPhone
Before we get started using this simple app I want to give you a couple of tips on the Pro HDR app.
-
The Pro HDR app doesn’t perform well with pictures of people or moving objects. It performs best with objects that are perfectly still.
-
Hold the camera as still as possible. The more still you are and the subject is the better off you are, and the better the picture will be.
-
It helps if you rest your arm (or the phone) against something to keep still.
Using the Pro HDR application is very simple.
-
Purchase the Pro HDR app for $1.99 click here.
-
Launch the app
-
Hold the camera still and hit the photo button
-
The application will run and will take two photos (this is why you need to be really still, you want both photos to be the same)
-
When you see the screen below hit the “save” button and then the “done” button after the photo is saved and your done!
