This trick for storing leader line will save you a lot of time, frustration and money if you will put it to use with leader line. If you have been catfishing for years or just started reading this website you probably know that most catfish rigs like the slip bobber rig and the slip sinker rigs that we have recently posted all involve a length of line at the end, or leaders.
Leaders are a length of heavier weight monofilament that is used at the business end of the fishing line and almost every rig you will find involves one. For most rigs I use 40 or 50 lb clear monofilament for my leaders.
This leader line trick involves a 1/4 lb spool of leader line, and a neoprene beer coozie and just about everyone has one of these laying around.
The problem with leader line is that you place a spool of it in your tackle box and when you go back to your tackle box later on the spool of monofilament leader has unrolled and turned into a huge mess of fishing line which is no longer usable, costing you time and money. You can check out the tackle page for line and tackle suggestions.

Great tip. I for one will be trying that. Video looked blurry though .. almost like it was out of focus … but … I am liking the video style articles. Sure does bring it all to life.
The video being blurry is something with youtube, because they are not like that when I upload. Still working on determining what the actual issue is.
Took a couple of coozys out to my boat this weekend. Great tip. Worked like a charm exactly as advertised.
