Georgia State Record Blue Cat

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources announced on February 19 2009 that angler Earnest Timpson of Edison Ga., set a new  Georgia state record for blue catfish on February 2nd.

Timpson was fishing on Lake Walter F George in Georgia when he pulled in a blue catfish weighing 80 lbs and 4 ounces, beating the old Georgia state record by 5 lbs. The fish was 49 inches long.

The previous record of 75 pounds was set in 2008 on a private pond.
