Catfishing Month In Review October 2010

Stuff I was doing this month when I wasn’t here.

This is my monthly recap for all of the articles and activities on Learn To Catch Catfish for the month of October 2010.

Things (as usual) have been crazy busy around here. I sold my house, and trying to buy another house as well as trying to keep up with everything else in between which has pushed my stress level through the roof about 300% in the last couple of weeks. On a positive note, the weather is getting cool and most of the lakes around here have turned over by now and the weather is cooling nicely, which means the water is cooling nicely.

The air is starting to get “that smell” like fall and winter will be here before no long. While everyone else smells fireplaces and falling leaves I only smell one thing and that is BIG CATFISH! Winter is hands down the best time here in Texas for catching BIG TROPHY BLUE CATFISH! My schedule is starting to book up but I still have dates available for the fall and winter. As a general rule, fishing will be best from Thanksgiving until mid February if anyone is interested in going on a guided catfishing trip with me.

I have been doing a ton of “media” stuff this month including interviews with several radio shows out of state and several magazine and newspaper interviews as well. I was hoping to be able to share the radio interviews but have been unable to get links to the shows at this point, if I ever do get them, I will be sure and share them. Magazine interviews usually take months to show up and I usually hear about them from someone else who reads them, but if I get wind of when they will print I will share that information as well.

Top Secret Catfishing Information

I have have had countless emails and messages on twitter from folks wanting me to tell them about the top secret catfishing project that is going on. I touched on it here in this article. Sorry folks but I cannot divulge that information at this time. We are feverishly working on it though and when the time is right, I will be letting the “catfish out of the bag” to the newsletter first and those subscribers will be getting in on the first round of this project. Make sure you are subscribed to both the newsletter and the daily email updates as well. You can find more information on doing that here. I just have to make sure that everything is right before doing so. I thought I was going to be able to move forward this month but those whole moving disturbance has put me really behind.

Jug Fishing For Catfish Book

Several weeks ago I sent an email out to the newsletter looking for feedback on a book I have been working on about How To Make Catfish Juglines. If you have read my about page or know anything about me you probably know that I manufacture catfish bait called Redneck’s Catfish Bait Soap and also manufacture juglines called Redneck’s Juglines and have been doing so for years.

I have been debating whether or not to launch the book for about six months now and have decided to go ahead and move forward with it. All of the information will be posted tomorrow but I wanted to give everyone the heads up on what I was doing.

I have and will continue to provide all of the great free catfishing information here but in the next couple of weeks you are going to see some announcements here regarding some of the projects I have been working on. In order to launch these products I have to generate some cash to help get them started and purchase some equipment I need as well as to continue to be able to pay for the growing expense of running this website.

I am not going to start peddling paid products every week where I am pushing people for money but at the end of the day this has been a very project to maintain over the past year and not once have I sold anything (other than the occasional plug for my catfish bait and catfish guide service).

The proceeds from the book are going towards supporting and maintaining the website (paying for the costs to keep it online) as well as buy some of the computer gear that I need to get started with these other projects.

If you like the information I have provided here since the website started and feel it has helped you, has saved you money or you just find it entertaining I would appreciate you buying a copy of the book to help me support the website and associated expenses.

I understand times are tough for us all and if you don’t feel like spending the money on the book (or can’t) but would still like to help me out by making a small donation you can always do so through Paypal through the link below:

Looks like you have had a busy month. Looking forward to cooler weather in Nov. & get to more fishing. Thanks for the report!

  2. Chad;

Congrats on selling the house. Hope you didn’t have to take a loss, and wishing you and yours the best of luck on finding your new dream home.

October was a very enjoyable, and informative month here on Learn To Catch Even though I haven’t had the reason to use some of the info you’ve provided, all of it was very interesting, and perhaps some day I’ll get the chance/opportunity to use this helpful info.

Even though I use to work in Hot Dip Galvanizing and have handled many, many hundreds of anchors, I don’t have a boat so the anchor article won’t help me out, I’ve never used a cast net or a trap to collect my bait, I just go down to my local bait store and buy what I need. Guess I’m a little on the lazy side in my old life.

Chad, all in all, this has been a great month of reading material. If I had the time and the extra moola, I’d take you up on one of your guided fishing trips. Sounds like it would be a real blast to learn from the pro, and besides, I’d get to meet in person the gent who’s material I read most every day.

The best to you and all the Learn To Catch family.

  3. Sorry about the double post.
