Things have been a bit quiet around here for the month. The catfishing business gets crazy for me starting around mid February and stays that way through the Summer and usually around about early to July it all starts catching up with me. The combination of trying to keep up with guiding, making catfish bait, making juglines and running Learn To Catch Catfish can be hectic, to say the least.
We had an opportunity for a free place to stay at South Padre Island so me and Lil’ Redneck loaded up in the truck and headed down to South Padre Island for some rest and relaxation.
So what does someone whose life is consumed by fishing do when they go on vacation? Head to the beach and go SHARK FISHING.
Unfortunately the weather was pretty rough most of the trip with very high winds that didn’t allow much surf fishing, but we did manage to get one get day of shark fishing in. We had several good runs but never landed a shark this trip, that’s half the fun of the adventure though when you head out to go surf fishing.
Needless to say, being out of town, with no internet connection for a week got me really behind and as soon as I got back home it was right back to work and getting caught up on everything that has to be done around Casa Redneck.
While I did not get as much published as I wanted to, I still think I managed to do pretty darn good cranking out content, all things considering.
The positive side is that I have some GREAT stuff in the works for the coming weeks, so hopefully I will make up for my absence!
Like usual, for the catfishing month in review, I am going to cover a number of topics.
Fishing
I know a number of my clients check in here and read my articles so I wanted to throw a message out here about the fishing. I am fishing at Eagle Mountain Lake right now and am staying there through August. I will start offering trips on Lewisville again in mid to late September (but will as usual continue fishing on Eagle Mountain Lake).
The catfishing is on FIRE at Eagle Mountain Lake right now and I expect it will stay that way through August. We are catching amazing numbers of channel catfish from one to five lbs without a lot of effort and have been limiting out on most trips. There have been a couple of off days but overall some of the best summer catfishing I have ever been in.
My August schedule is pretty light right now so if you are interested in booking a trip give me a shout at 817-522-3804
The Newsletter – Catfishing Secrets
Most of my blog posts have some sort of comment at the end about the RSS Feed and the newsletter.
One of my original intentions when I started this website was to offer some of the “catfishing secrets” in regards to techniques and finding catfish, that nobody else is sharing. This is the behind the scenes stuff that most folks are pretty tight lipped about.
We have started working on this project that for right now I will call catfishing secrets (but the name will probably change) and determining how we are going to work everything.
At some point when I get ready to start releasing the catfishing secrets it’s not something that will be live on the main website but will be behind the scenes and will require registration to view or download.
I would strongly encourage you (again) to sign up for the newsletter so you have access to this information. You have my word that we are not going to start bombarding you with spam, and we will not sell or otherwise disclose or share your email addresses.
Big Announcement Coming Soon
We have a couple of announcements we will be making soon. One I am almost certain will be announced sometime this month and the other probably in early September, which is yet another reason to sign up for the newsletter because when we make these announcements there will be an extra benefit for the newsletter subscribers, which will not be available to anyone else and there will be no “early warning”. If you are not signed up for the newsletter at the time of the announcement, you will not be eligible.

Hi again Chad!
As a new member here I’m surprised to say that with as much info as you have on here so far, I couldn’t even tell that you were on vacation at South Padre Island!!!! Did you ever catch a shark?? Sounds like you and the lil redneck had a blast!! Wish I were there! And yes, you’ve accomplished a lot more than you give yourself credit for. You pumped out a lot of articles in July considering you’ve been on vacation.

Thanks for the feedback.
Only got to fish one day because of the wind and no sharks, had two good runs but missed both of them because we did not have gear that was heavy enough.
