How we are catching catfish right now.
With the weather changes the water is beginning to cool off so it has scattered the fish some. Over the next few weeks we will be using a number of different techniques for catfishing.

Blue Catfish
We are using two different techniques for blue catfish right now. Fishing shallow water for blue catfish (1 to 6 feet deep) using fresh cut shad and a slip sinker rig. Fish shallow and don’t sit too long with no bites. The fish are scattered so you have to find them. I suggest using a minimum of twenty point test line and a Daichi crcle chunk light circle hook, you can find information on these products on our suggested catfish tackle page.
We will also be drift fishing for blue catfish focusing on water above the thermocline generally no deeper than 22-23 feet deep. Fish with fresh cut shad using a Santee Rig , again with no less than twenty lb test line and a circle hook. Match the hook to the size fish you are targeting.
Channel Catfish
Channel catfish are abundant right now. We are fishing shallow water for channel catfish, generally 1-6 feet of water using a slip bobber and fishing areas baited with catfish chum. Use catfish punch bait fished under the slip float. If you don’t start catching fish quickly, move.
Jug Fishing
We are fishing water 6-20 feet deep with Redneck’s Juglines using fresh cut shad and Redneck’s Catfish Bait Soap Focus on structure and large expansive mudflats with structure nearby.

Congrats on the News spot! Tried to find the video on the website but the storyis not there. Anywho congrats!
Chad:
You are quite the media person. Channel * and the fishing show from Corpus. I think you said it all when you related that catfishing is fishing, not casting and selecting lures. It is fun, no matter what size you are fishing for, trophy or table. It is a rewarding kind of fishing for sure. thanks for you promotion and tips.
Bob
All in a days work! Thanks!
I did not know anything about the channel 8 show . Did I miss notice?
Will, we be able to see it on your site before long.
Later Don
I posted on the Facebook page and on Twitter yesterday. It’s only about 60-90 seconds.
I am going to try to get a copy and will post if they allow it.
I hurt myself yesterday and was in a lot of pain so not my greatest work.
Fished all day today and just got back from the ER to find I have a broken elbow and wrist.
Chad;
I feel for ya man, been there done that. Not the wrist, but other bones. I went fishing for Rainbows yesterday, jambed my right index finger while securing my gear on my cart. A day later and it still hurts like the dickens.
Congrats on the news spot. The best to you, and we hope you have a speedy recovery.
Stan
Thanks. I am going to a Dr today to find out if they have to operate or not.
A belated congrats on the publicity Chad. I Always watch channel 4 news so unfortunately I missed it.
I would have loved to see it. One day I’m gonna take my Mrs. Redneck and book a trip with ya for some channel cats and a few blues.
Sorry to hear about the broken bones. Any news of operation or not? Bet those pain meds are great! :p BTW Chad, how did you break it? On a 100+ pound blue??
Keep up the great work Chad.
